Why this matters to me
I'm Ripley Williamson-King, a Bristol-based photographer with lived experience of chronic depression, anxiety, PTSD and managing poor mental health caused by childhood trauma.
I've spent years processing feelings through photographic images without realising that was what I was doing. Now I’ve realised this I’ve created What Keeps Us a project to look at the small moments that keep us going as someone who knows what it means to need them.
Years of therapy and a slowly built, but beautiful, support network have given me the confidence to open up.
By gathering and sharing stories from others who understand what it means to hold on, I am creating an exhibition to open space to celebrate these moments.
The small things can be everything.
